Anne M. Fiala
Having recently graduated from the University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign with bachelors’ in Metals and Industrial Design,
I have found myself living in Chicago, working full time in the office of
my father’s body shop and part time in the back building a studio and creating work.
Surprisingly, the body shop has been an amazing and inspirational artist community.
I have learned so much from the techs in the back, many of which have been
working with metal for the past 50 years. They have taught me new methods of tool
making and unintentionally opened my eyes to countless new materials.
