Of course we can, and we don’t have to make excuses that we can’t go to the gym. That our membership is “active” and we’d love to work out but can’t. And that’s thanks to measures that ban this—for us—wonderful exercise. And we complain, grumble, and stay home. We watch TV, turn on our computers first thing in the morning without even having breakfast, and check what’s happened, what’s coming up, and when we’ll be able to head out with friends to our favorite fitness center. And again, nothing! We’re angry, and resentment takes hold of us. We stay home and gain weight.

Ask yourself if this is the right approach? Look at it this way: things are happening, and we can’t change them; we have to accept them, whether we like it or not. We can’t get together, we can’t work out at the gym—so just accept it. After all, it’s not the end of the world, is it?
On the contrary—enough with the whining and lamenting! Come up with an alternative plan.
Start running! Don’t have the right shoes? Then start walking regularly. Don’t have Nordic walking poles? Then walk without them! It’s still better without poles than to have no regular exercise at all. Don’t feel like going out into the autumn drizzle, fog, and rain? Dress warmly, choose waterproof shoes, put on a raincoat, and take an umbrella. There are even some superhumans among us who don’t need an umbrella and simply run out in the rain, figuring they’ll shower at home and put on warm clothes after their run. We call that a positive attitude
, and we send our heartfelt congratulations to these brave souls! Are you not used to being outdoors, but instead prefer to spend time and work out in the dry safety of a gym?

OK, if none of the above applies to you, then do as you please. Cry, complain, eat three extra dumplings, and enjoy the creamy sauce. But then don’t complain that you’re falling into depression and dangerously gaining excess weight. You chose this yourself.
Isn’t it better to choose a different perspective? Why not accept the fact that this is just how it is and come up with an alternative plan instead? After all, sports aren’t just about hard work in the gym and on specialized equipment. Maybe it’s time to move in a different way and in a different direction…
