Did your grandmother rock in one when she was a kid? Or the hero of your favourite detective story? Either way, if you\’ve ever tried it too, you have to admit that rocking in a chair is not a bad diversion at all. The rocking motion is soothing, relaxing after a hard day, it\’s perfect. You can read in such a chair, sleep, let the music drift away or take your laptop and focus on your work in peace. The armchair is suitable for a mountain hut, any other hut or even a prefabricated apartment
What is the choice?
You can swing in several ways. Either classically on two skids on which the chair moves back and forth. This is closest to the chairs of yesteryear. You have to be careful with this though, because the skids have an end, of course, and you really don\’t want to overweight yourself. There are rocking chairs in this vein, but they seem to be quite a fad.
In contrast, spring chairs have a different design, where you can rock sideways with a bit of effort. And if you\’re looking for absolute freedom, buy a hanging swing. They can be hung from the ceiling, and some have a special design so they\’re suitable for the garden.
You can also buy children\’s rocking chairs if you want your little one to swing and sleep better.
There are also many materials to choose from, including wood, metal, plastic or rattan. Rattan is logically lighter and therefore easier to handle, rattan you can choose natural or artificial, where the price is of course proportional to the naturalness. Wooden and metal chairs last more.
The seat and backrest can be in one piece, which is more comfortable from experience, or in two pieces. Be careful of too straight a backrest, as you won\’t get the comfort you want and you won\’t get a healthy back. A footstool is sometimes sold to go with the chair, which is also worth a sin.
